Corporate Rollercoaster Rides
When your management changes, how to keep sane and keep moving forward
Hello beautiful readers!
It’s October 2025 already. How you all have been? Today I will be talking about a very general topic that happens every now and then with us: Management changes! Especially in this economy of ours where the world is just surviving or breathing on the announcements by Trump..LOL! We are indeed in an ANNOUNCEMENT WORLD.
So,I have noticed many times our management changes quite frequently and the reasons behind it could be very much valid and logical too. I know ..we get it..but it becomes really challenging for one to settle in those kinda changes. And while I totally get that change is inevitable in the corporate world, it does make things harder especially if you’re someone who’s actually performing and wants to grow, not just survive. The moment you think that you are aware about your manager’s feedback style, about his/her quirks you know what I mean…and then boom!!! here comes the announcement of management change.
What happened last week on “Project Perks With Harkiran”?So, how do you cope without losing momentum or motivation? Here’s what I’ve learned and am still learning about staying grounded while everything above your pay grade keeps shifting.
1. Reset Expectations (treat this as a whole new opportunity session)
Every manager comes with their own style, priorities, and vision. That can be frustrating if you were aligned with the last one. But here’s the trick: don’t expect the new one to pick up where the old one left off. Take some time to reset. Observe, ask questions, and understand what they value. It’s a bit like onboarding all over again—just mentally.
Think of it like learning a new operating system. Same hardware (you), new UI.
TRUST me..it’s gonna take it’s own sweet time..but you can’t give up here at all!!
2. Reintroduce Yourself (Shoot your shot)
Yes, they’ve probably seen your name on a spreadsheet or a performance tracker. But that’s not the same as knowing you. Use that first 1:1 wisely. Share what you’re working on, your recent wins, and what motivates you. Don’t be shy about stating your goals. You’re not bragging—you’re onboarding them to you.
3. Be YOU, Be Authentic
It’s tempting to think, “What’s the point?” when everything keeps shifting. But consistency is its own superpower. Keep showing up. Keep delivering. Leaders notice people who remain steady in times of uncertainty. That resilience is a skill—and it’s rare.
4. Stay Visible (NETWORK!I hate this word..but yes, you have to network)
One of the biggest risks with constant leadership changes? You lose your internal advocates. Who’s got you? Nobody but YOU in real world but here you have to play a little. So, widen your circle. Present in cross-team meetings. Share updates in Teams channels. Build relationships across your org so you’re not dependent on just one manager to champion you.
5. Acceptance is BLISS (Do what’s in your control)
You can’t control re-orgs, layoffs, or whether your manager takes another job. But you can control how you adapt, how you communicate, and how you keep showing up. Keep a growth mindset, even when the ground keeps shifting beneath you(Ok,this ne was little too much..LOL)
To conclude,
If you’ve been feeling a bit like a pinball in your company lately, you’re not alone. It’s exhausting. But it’s also temporary. The corporate world is a rollercoaster :some seasons are chaotic, others are steady. Your job isn’t to control the ride. It’s to hold on, learn what you can, and keep becoming the kind of professional who thrives, no matter who’s in the manager’s chair.
Thanks for reading 💛
